George Greenberg : Mayor of Clematis Street

George Greenberg was born in Lake Worth on May 29th, 1915.
He died August 16th, 2007 at his home in West Palm Beach at the age of 92.

Mr. Greenberg was an inspiration for many people by virtue of his intelligence and the respect he gave and received from others.  From his return from WWII into the 21st century, he simply was the history of Pioneer Linens.  He taught those around him to enjoy what you are doing, to let no obstacle stop you from where you want to be.  He said to never let age get in your way, to keep active and involved, adding value to your life continually. His joy for learning was tremendous - whether it was learning a new merchandising program or mastering the cell phone, he gave it his all. George Greenberg was a true gentleman, respected and missed by all.

A well-known business leader in the community Mr. Greenberg led an illustrious life marked by success and community involvement.

Among his positions : 1st Lieutenant in The US Army Quartermaster Corps during WWII President of Pioneer Linens President of the Downtown Merchants Assoc Founding Member of the Governor’s Club of the Palm Beaches Member Pundits Club of the Palm Beaches Lifetime member of the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches Mr Greenberg served on Boards of The Historical Society of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Community College, 1st National Bank, Sunrise Savings & Loan Assoc., Florida National Bank, Junior Achievement, and the Governor's Club

The son of Max & Rose (Kalb) Greenberg., he is predeceased by his wife Lois (Horberg), and survived by his daughter, Penny Murphy, son George Greenberg Jr., & grandchildren Alan Murphy Jr., Marissa Murphy, Camille Murphy, Alexis Greenberg, Nikki Greenberg & Sierra Greenberg.
